Camp Elliot april the 16 1862
to you my dear wife I seat myself to drop
you afew lines in ancer to your kinde letters
which came to hand dated the 9 and the 11 I received
the [????] the 14 of this instant which gave me
grate sadis faction to hear from you all again
and to hear that you hav got ahand to work
with you I would like to no at what price
this [??????????] me in good health and I
hope this may reach you in due time and finde
you and all my relations en Joying the same good
blessing Jacob W amick and W W [H?] is boath
well and D W Epting is mending pretty fast
I think that hee will soon bee well Without
relaps [??] can keep him atakeing care of him
Self I think he Will soon bee well I will tell you
the reason that I did not write to you sooner
our camp [??????] on picket for four days and
I received your letter on friday night
and [???] no [????] on picket saturday morning
and I received the other on on monday night
when I was on picket wee have served our
four days on picket wee landed back to camp
this morning

the newse down hear is not so good all the
newse that wee can get about fort pulasca is
that the yankeys has got it and they think
hear in camps that the next they will try
fort Jackson and savanah but I dont no how
it is war how it will bee yet We must trust
in the god of nations for the victory and if
we put our trust in him [??] will come out victorious
in the end tell me how all has volentered
up thare tell me whether any of them bulleys
down below is going or not and how they act
dont let evry strange person see thease few
lines but let farthers family and your farthers
family see it you said in your letter that I should
get afurlo and come home to see you I will as
soon as I can I have give you all the newse I
have to give you at this time so nothing
more at present When this you see remem
ber me though fare apart we bee nothing
more only remaining your lovein husband
untell death So fare well till I hear from
