Biography: 

Jesse T. Brown (b. ca. 1839) was the son of John C. Brown (b. SC ca. 1810), a farmer and slaveholder in Winston County, Mississippi. He mustered into service as a private in the “Winston Guards,” Co. A (old Co. B), 13th Mississippi Infantry on May 16, 1861. He was present at the First Battle of Manassas and died of measles at Centerville, Virginia on August 12, 1861. His brother, James B. Brown (b. ca. 1841), also served as a Confederate soldier during the war.
