John C. Hackett Papers, 1849 (1862-1888) 1896

The Hacketts (also spelled Hacket) were a farm family from Guilford County, North Carolina. John C. Hackett (b. ca. 1810) and his wife Sally (b. ca. 1816) were the parents of Christopher Hackett (b. ca. 1839) served in Co. D, 45th North Carolina Infantry and died at Elmira Prison Camp in New York (October 3, 1864). Another son, James Hackett (b. ca. 1844), was employed at the state saltworks near Wilmington during much of the war.
