Harrison Hanes Papers

Harrison Hanes was from Davie County, North Carolina and served as a private in Co. G, 4th NC Inf. He was born on January 21, 1841 and enlisted on June 5, 1861 at Wake County, NC. Hanes was wounded at the Battle of Seven Pines (also known as Fair Oaks) on May 31, 1862. He married Nancy Williams, to whom these letters are directed, on September 4, 1862. Harrison Hanes survived the war and lived at Farmington Township, Davie County, NC until his death in 1923.
