Thomas C. Wester papers

Thomas C. Wester (b. ca. 1842) was from Louisburg, Franklin County, North Carolina. At the time of the Federal Census of 1860, Wester was living in the household of his father, Daniel Wester, a minister and farmer. On Noverber 2, 1861 Thomas C. Wester enlisted as a private in Co. B, 13th North Carolina Infantry Battalion, later was incorporated into the 66th North Carolina Infantry (Wester was eventually promoted to sergeant). The collection consists of a diary written by Wester and nine letters, mostly written by Wester to his wife, Sarah, and to his father, Daniel Wester.
