My Dear wife and children I Seat my
Self this morning to rite you a few lines
to let you no that I am well at this time
Hopen that thay may come safe to
your hand and find you all well and
Doing well I havent eny thing Strange
to rite to you at this time
We Come out of Sumter last thirsdy
nite about 2 oclock all Safe and Soun
I dont like the fort at all though our
Far bout somthing to eat was beter
Than we draw hear we drawd lite
Wheat bred and bacon as mutch as I
wanted but ide ruther Stay hear on
Bred than thar on bred and meat ther
is so mutch hard dewty to do thar and
the dewty is hard hear but not like
it is in Sumter we have 2 nites to
Sleep hear and up one and thar it is
up one and half the other and then
up one and half the other we had power
full cold wether while we was in

Sumter I was cold nite and day all
the time but if we stay hear we
will haft to go back again in a bout a
month I have bin looking for a let
ter from you for severl days but
havent got it I want to hear from
you once a weak eny how I was Sorry
to hear that Few disapointed
you again a bout shoos you
must keep trying to get for ef
you dont get this Spring or Sum
er you will not get none
For next winter John and Wm
I want to hear you ar geting a long
fine with your work but I no
from what we heard about the
wether its bin So you cold not
Work without Shoos I want you
to [Com?] it when the wether is
good and I hope to hear from you
