Tunnill Hill Ga Feb 14 “ 1864
Dear Wife I this morning take th
oppertunity of riteing you a few lines which
will inform you that I am well and I truly
hope that this will come safe to hand and finde
you enjoying the same blesing I have just rote you
a letter and sent it to you by L W he started home
yeasterday evening I received the letter and the
provisions that you sent to me by Mr Tomblin last night
and I was very glad to get them they come unexpected
to me for I had heard that hathaway was not a going to
bring [anything?] [??????] hear I had bin out [1]
on a [scout?] a hunting diserters and I got in the day
before lell started home they say that wee [2]
will not git any more furlos in a while on
the account of them [felars?] diserting I rot to
your pap some time a go to send me a venison ham
tell him that he must kill him better dears
than the one that he did kill the boys sais
that if he had a bin use to eating our pore
beef that he woul of thought it was
fat and [??] [packet?] it home I have not much to rit to you
at this time I just rit to let you [no?] that I have received
the thing that you sent to me all safe
My Wife I think of you oftin and want to see you
but I cant teell when I can git to see you wee can only hope
fer better time in the feuter you s[aid?] you did not get a letter from
[me?] since Mr [Collin?] went home I rot one by R L Adams and one by
Wm W Hathaway this is the first letter that I have got from you
[since?] George Bush come back so I must come to a close for this time
by saying rite to me soon I still remain your husband
