Dear Wife
I got no letter since last week when
I got 3 two from you and one from chet
But I thaught if I dident get anny letters
myself I would keep sending you some
Well mimy I never was up so early on election
day as I was to day for we was called out this
morning at 3 oclock and stood behind the
Breastworks until 8 oclock expecting the
johnes would attact us for the purpus of Brea
king up the election But devil a Johney came
I guess they dident like the Reception they
got on the 7th of oct when they tryed to turn
our Right we Have got Election Here today
our capt and first Lieutenant are judges on
the deomocrat Side and our 3rd Sargent is judge
on the Republican side and our clerks are Both
Republicans on from phila and the other from
Spring Brook Luzerne County I Just put

in a Vote for old abe as long as your arm
it is the first Vote I ever poled for president
and I hope it wont Be lost there is a considerable
of pulling and Halling about Election for the
McClelan men are doing all in there power
to elect Him He will get a good manny Vots
here But the manority of the Soldiers are for
old abe Jaquish [2] is our on picket and I dont
know weather he will be in time enough to
Vote that hankerchief never has come yet and I
guess its gone in if you put it in a letter Some
boddy must thaught it was money and took
[it?] if I dont get it soon you will have
to send me another one for I cant do without
a hankerchief I cant write much today
But will write in a day or two again
you must write often and direct washington
for they all go there anny way Second Brigade
