Dear wife
I Recieved no letter since monday but
thaught I would drop you a fiew lines to let
you know I am well and hope this will find
you all the same there is nothing new in parti
cular about here all quiet along the lines that is
the old story today is thanksgiven day and
the president has set it apart for fasting
and you can do the praying they say there was
one hundred turkeys came here last night for
this Regiment from new york for thanksgiven
But I haint seen anny of them yet and I am
afraid by the time the officers gets there Share
there wont be much left for us But I suppose
we will be just as well off a hundred years from
now as tho we had ever so much for dinner
Josiah Laumarey [1] just got Back to the Regiment
Last night he was in the hospital and got a

furlough for 16 days to go home to Election he
was home and just returned last night looking
well he seen Bill Joneses mother in mc alarneys
just as he was comeing away I dont hear
anny thing about our going away from here
lately and I dont know if we will go or not
noboddy can tell they are working away
day and night and day at Butlers canall
and one of thes days you will hear from it
the Boys are all well and in the best sperits
and look for an Early peace general Sherman
is on a peace mishion in the Southern States
now and if successful will strike them
a harder Blow than they have got yet
tell Chet he must write often to us and we
will try to answer them in some Shape
or other I got that hankercheif it came all
Right and I was glad to get it the Boy have
Expected there pay this month but I guess it
wont come for a couple of months yet at least
But I must close you must write often
