ny Dear wife
i now set down to
wright a few lines
to let you now that
we are all well hoping
this will finde you all
the same i receved your
letter saying you got
to sleep in the cars i
hope you ware not
tight the boys thinks your
ware tight or says your
ware i was glad to
hear that you got home
safe we are incaped
at halls hill or camp
hall every thing is quiet
hear just now but i
think thay cannot keep
so long

our men and them
are very close thay
are continuley scrimingin
witch out much loss on
eather side the rebbles
are still falling back
we expect to hear of
a figt sum of thes
night as our troops
are pushing on and
the rebbles are prutty
bold one of our batterys
was shelling them out
of the woods yesterday
they left our troops
are [anbushes?] to get at
them now as thay get
in sigt we hav plenty
of musick about hear
the rebbles ware in camped
on this ground a wek or
to a gow

but was not close to
it it is an olde
brick church it is very
plane out side our
picetts extend just
out side of it
it is rumerd that
we are to come to
washington this week
but i cant say for
certin but i cant
beleeve it

Stillwell got that
lette from his wife
