My Dear wife I
take this opportunity of
writing a few lines to
you hoping thay will find
you all well as thay
lave us At present
I receved your kind and
welcome letter dated the 24
with two stamps in and
List of drafted men
i was vary glad to se
it i sean a [waltess?]
paper that came to oram
gregg in F comp i am
very sory for some of
those men I only wish
we may not want them

we ware laying at
warrington two ore three
days and left thare yesterday
morning and got hear last
night in a drenching rain
we hav had some very wett
weather latley and a good
deal of it your Bill joined
us at warrington he is dismou
nted all the dismounted men
ware sent to Alexandria
fore new horses yesterday
when we left ten out
of our compny James
Ardes is withe them and
we expect them backe in
a few days this is the
plase whare george philips
was taken Prisner last

we are gowing yet it
may be to culpeper as
we are only eight 8 miles
from thair I think nearly
all the cavalry is out
hear there was a good meney
hear before we came all
of our division is hear

i only wish it may
still continue so you say
that you hav got one
1000 rebels up thair I
only wish that thay had
all bin kild in stead of
prisners I do not know
what thay send them up
