Camp at Milldale Febuary 9th AD 1863
Dear Wife I again have to
opertunity of Riting you a few lines once
more by which you will see that I am
still on the stage of action tho not in
good health at this time I have bin Sick
with my Bowells running of[f] & I was ta –
ken with the cramp colick last nite I
was very Bad for Severl hours tho I
am Better this morning I am so as to
bee up tho I feel very week I think
I will be well in a few days I hope
these few lines will reach you safe &
find you all well & dooing well I
have but little to rite this time to
you I want to go home but there no
chance for me to doo it so you must doo
the Best you can for your self I hope I will
live to come home and Stay with you
time I live in this life there is
some talk of us geting mooved from this
place tho where to I no not it is on the
acount of small pox it is in this Regt
they sent one man to the hospitle yesterday
& I feal it will gow throu the regment &
wee ar all subject to have it tho I hope
it will seace without spreding any further
I have but little to rit Evry thing is very
quiet this morning there is no firing of
guns in hearing & I hope it will remain

Febuary the 11th Dear wife I
will close my letter this morning
I can say to you that I am still sick
but mending very Slow tho I hope I
will soon able for duty there is a
nother case of Pock made its appearence
hear or it is thout so
there is some firing a casionly in hearig
but little damig done on Either side
you must rite to me as soon as
you get this for I have not heard from
home sence I have bin out & I want
hear very Bad so no more at this
time so I remain your affectionet
