Carolina City NC Dear
Wife I receved your letter
last night and was glad to
hear that you was well
I can inform you that I am
beter than I was when I left
home I hope when these few
lines comes to hand they may
find you injoying the best of
helth and all the rest of the
family Richard and John Green
is well I wont to see you all
vary bad tho I dont know when
I can come home we have mov [1]
[??] near tho we get our leters
at the sam place we are
bilding houses to live in I hope
when we get them don we
shant sufer so much with cold

you may tell Wm Adkins
that I think he can get them fish [2]
at Durhams for 7 dollars pur
barel if dont get the chance
of coming home I will write
and let you know that you
may come to see me and you
may tell your mother that
I not forgot her I give her and
father my best respects
I must bring my letter
to aclose by saying I remain
