Dear children I am blessed with
the oppitunity of writing you a
few lines this morning whitch
will in form you that I am still
alive though not very well I have
Bin very poly for Som time though
thank god I am mending I am
with the company yet I am
in hopes this will come safte
to hand and find you all well
and doing well I have nothing
very interesting to write you
more than wee have had a hearde
time since the commensement
of this campaign thoug I am in
hopes that we will get som reste
som time soon thear is som
talks of our going in to camps
soon and I have trust in god that
we will we ar fearing very well

you som time though havent
recieve it yet and I want you
to write as soon as this comes to
hand and gave me all the news
I want to know how you all are
getting on Dick is well and hearty
tell Mrs Martha to write
to me and let me know how
the children is getting on gave

your gran Fearther and gran
mother tell them that I wold be
glad to see them children I want
you to be smarte and all ways
have respect for olde peple dont
gave them any provication of
correcting you I want you to
be smarte and take good advise
from a friend who is capable
of advising you I will close &___
