State of North Carolina wake county
Dar Mother I Seet my Self this eaving to
Let you know how I am I have been sick
ever sence last wensday I was taken at the fare grou
nd then we come here to the plase cald the crab tree
about three miels from the town it was about
dark when we got here and I had A hot fever on
me then thare was no tents up for us and thay
could not hoist them thin so I got my tent and spred
it out and lay down I laid thare rite on the
grownd till 9 oclock thin Leut [???]ton come and
took my thinds and careed me to the horse pittle
and been here ever cince I am mending fast I fare
well in here the house is nice and cleen good mats
to lie on cleen shets and pillow caces and two men
to wait on us it is much better then it is recommend
to be as for something to eat I get A plenty
and it is fixed better than it is at the camp
the docter says it is the fever and ague what
ales me and I recond it is but I have not had
hard chills you need not be interested about me
for I have not had any fever sence yesterday
morning I have been walking about in the hou
se all day the Docter says he dont want me to

as I am not well and my nerves
is week I must come to A close

Afew lines to you father I received your
kind letter the third day I was sory to here
that you was not well but I hope you are
better by this time I am not well but is mend
ing very fast papa camp life is A timped Life
to live I wish I could see you and talk About
it some we have got mad men in our company
some I hardly ever speakes to them
I shall come home in A few days if I can
get A permit burry has sent some home now [1]
on the account of sickness & I think I
shall be home soon nomore at presant

father I have A good stunack to eat and
has had all the tome
Jane I cante tell all you want to know
now but I have not been in the gard
house but some of them has I will tell
you all about it in my next letter
