County December 12th 1861
Dear Son I take my pen in hand to
let you know that we are all well as
common myself and Johnson is mending
I recived your letter with joy and
hope these few lines will find you
well and doing well and we ware
glad to hear that you wear well and
injoyed your Self well and I recived
the five dollars you Sent me thankfuly
your uncle robart Staid hear last night
he came from the Salt works Salt is high
and Scarse hear and we heard that you
had got all your Equipage for war
and try to do the best you can for
your Self and contry be a good
Soldier and a good man and let us
rember each other in our prayers
your mother Says houdy Son and She
would be glad to See you and come
when you can and your Mother has got
What money Joseph Williams owd you
and She Says She wants you to let

by paying for your cooking do so
