Camp Branch Near Newbern
March the 10 1862
My Dear Mother Brothers and Sisters
I take my pen in hand to inform you
that I am well at presant and hope thoes
few Lines will reach you ingoying the Same
blessing I have gust closed our prare meeting
we had A good time of it for severl of the boys
hope us to Sing you must excuse me for not
writing Soner for I have not had the time
to write I expect I shall disapoint you in
getting A Letter but now I am going to Send
this Letter in care of robert jarman
I have nothing to write that is of importance
only the rail road bridge was sot on fire by
Some one but thank god It never done any
harm I suppose that Sam jarman will take
my place if the curnal will take him
my ofercs are willing to it I am going to Send
word to him to come just as soon as he can
get here then I will go to the curnal about it
Bil told me that he would come for fifty
dollars but I shall higher him if I can

well I want you to keep in good spriet
and dont Lett so many things disturb
your mind for it is useless
Mother I arived here at Newbern about
Sunset that eavning and had to pay 75
cents to get here I want you to write
to me as Soon as you get this an Send
me word what time jow Williams got
home and if the mare was Sick
pleas Send me word what arangements
you have made to mak A crop and if you
have not higherd no one yet dont
higher one for nonger then for one [1]
month tell I write Agane
it is getting Late and I will close
by saing that I remain your truly
