April 27th 1862
Dear Mother I Seet my Self to inform you that
I am well except A cold I received your Kind Letter
this morning and was pleased to here that you all
was well except colds and I received the bag of
vitles you sent to me I am proud to here that
you are getting Along so well About farmin I think
that you all get Along very well by what I am Learn
you said that the crows was poling up your corn
try and hang something white up in the feild
and probly it may do some good Mother I think that
you are doing extry to be so forward in your farm
I have got A plenty of close to Last me tell I get some
for we shall get some Close be fore Long I have not much
to write excuse me for writing so bad for my hand trembles
so bad that I cant write so I will Close John. W. Williams

Dear Sisters it is sunday eavening and thank god that
I am in good sperit and ingoy my self very well
and I hope that you are not greaved About your boys
yourself Abstained from all eavil remember
that you have not got A father to pertect you and so
keep good Company and take care of your carecter for
it will cary you fouther then any thing elce
remember what you have promast to god to sirve him
and keep his Commandsments pleas do not think
hard of me for writing so plain for I mean no harm
Jane I want you to write to me how the girls
are and if they have any conversation About me
explasly you know hwo write me if you have any suters
or get any Love Letters I want to know if any one has been
