Camp Near peetersburg
Aug the 18 1862
Dear Mother I take my pen in hand
to inform you that I am Sick to day
I was ecused by the Doctor this morning
and I have got A right Smart fever but
I hope I shall get better soon I received
your Letter Last Saterday and was glad to
hear from you an all the rest of the family
I am in A bad state of health some way
but I hope I shall recruit up soon
Mother I feel so bad that I cannot write
much but Mr humpry is going home
in A few days then I will write you
A Long Letter you wrote to me somthing
About moving the Joners field fence and
I want to know if you are going to move
it an whare to write to me soon an let
me here the nuse I want to know when
you think your foder will do to get for
you must not Lett it get to fare Ahead
of you if morning is not Able to help
you you had better higher rand
to help you in time of need well Mr
Jarman is going to start now so I must
come to A close by saing that I remain
