Camp Near Fredricksburg Va December the 22nd 1862
Dear Brother
I take my pen in hand to inform
you that I am tolerable well at present and hope
when these fiew lines come to hand They ma
find you all well I have no news of importance
to wright I have not herd from John since last
monday today a week ago they wer all sent to the
hospitle at Richmond but I donot now wat one
some of you ought to come and see him and try
and get him home if he died he wanted to be
brought home we are about sixty miles from
Richmond I should like to go and see him myself
if I could get off but there is no chance for me
to go I want you to go down to John Poindexters
and enquire for Robert Walkers and get my overcoat
and when Wm Richmond get home or the first chance
I wan you to get my Pistole a Repeter He has got Johns
money and watch also. get them and take care of them
I should like to be with you all at home a
Christmas but I fear it will be a long time
before I see you all if ever I do some of them
said the Colonel said when we got in winter quarter
and these fellows got back that was at home he
would give us a chance to go home or give some
furlows to those that has been here all the time
I must bring my fiew lines to a close wright soon

A fiew more lines to you my Dear Wife I want
you to wright to me as often as you can convenietly
you never rote whether you had received any
money from me or not I should like to know
I sent you a ring in a letter and I would
be glad to know if you received it it would
be some satisfaction to know these thing Me
and Jackson sent some money by R Gray his
sun our capt has asked us several times if
the money got home safe we could only tell
him we never herd it was fifty dollers a peiece
I want you to wright to me how much wheat
you had sowed and oats and I guess you can
wright how much pork you killed and how
much brandy you had and all such things
It would be some satisfaction if it did no good
A J Spease Wants to know of sidney what for
chance there is to get a watch and what
price and if you can get one on any
reasonable terms to get one I had rather
have it than the money if you cant get one
buy land It is reported here that the money
we get is not verry curant with you and I fear
it will be less so if piece is made He
wants to know if you have bought any corn
and if you have got all the horses yet &c&c
I will now close this letter and think it
will do for one time I wright once a weak so no
