Camp Chase, Ohio January the 30th 1865
Dear wife
Your letter of Nov the 18th come safely
to hand a fiew days ago. It being the fist I have received from
you saince I left home. I was truly glad to here that you all
we well. and doing well. and also thankfull for the dollar
in greenback you sent me. I can inform you that I am enjoying
good helth at this Time, and doing as well as could be expected
We have comfortable quarters and wood enough wood to keep them so.
but we are having the coldest wether here This month I ever saw
clowdy and snowing most of the time ground frozen very deep,
and coverd with snow and ice all the time I received a
letter form my aunt in Indiana a fiew days ago It informed
me that my relation wer all well out there Your letter
stated that you had sent me several letters with money in
them which has not come to hand yet which i hope will come
as I am in much need of all I can get. I have kept myself
in wrighting material and tobaco very plentyfull so far.
my clothes are geting the wers of ware but hope I will get some
from some sorce soon. I was sorry to learn from your letter
the deth of our neighbor boys I would like to know what has
become of M.C. Clayton as I herd he was wounded very bad.
I hope you will wright soon and give the general news
and the weight of your big hogs J.W. Beck is complaining
some of a rising in his head but is able to be abot and will
wright to his folks this eavning I will close hoping this letter
will find you all well so no more but remain your affectionate
