govaner Vance Dear Sir My husband Neely Tweed
has gon to the West and I Still remain in N.C.
and I Want to no of you Whether I can[??] git
A passport from Northcarolina to Kaintucky
or not I Want yow to rite to me soon as yow
can I Want a pasport to take my famuly and some
of my propperty We Want to take one four horse
Wagon and one too hor[s]e Wagon and three hed of
catle and I Want yow as a friend to try to
befriend us in giting us a pasport I think
that if I Was through the Southern armies I
could goe on to to the West and if yow cant
give me one pasport I Want you to
instruct me by letter how for me
to git a pasport I hope you Will befrind
me your truly friend until deth
