a paroled prisner Taken at Newbern write
you afew lines hoping to receive council from
you I am here at home and Col F Mcmillian
and Capt H,J, Williams is threatning takeing
me to my Co and I am told by men that
ought to know the Newbern prisners is not exchanged
I herefore put my trust in you that does
know for council also if I am exchanged I am
not able for servis I was sick all the time
I was in Camp and did not Drill any and
at the Newbern Fight when we was ordered
to retreat I was not able to git away and
fell in the hands of the enemy and was
paroled and sent home I reached home on the
13 of April and has not been able for servis
since I have been at home and I think if
there is any men might have a discharge
I am one of them

I will herefore tell you the reason I am
not able for servis I am afflicted with rheu
matism head ache and Dispepsia and one thing
dont agree with me in camp is meat on the
account of Dispepsia I have been talking of
coming to see you but I am some times able to
travel and sometimes confined to my bed and
another thing I have got no money and it
is to fur for a disabled boded man to start
without money Gov Vance Dear Sir it is no
nead of my saying any thing to you about
the Fight at Newbern where I was taken
for you was then Col of a reg in the same
fight I will inform you that I done all I
could for you in your election for Gov and I
now hope you will do all you can for me and
so I must close hoping you will write to me
with out delay and let me no what to do
