His Excelency the Govener
of North carolina Z.B. Vance
Dear Sir Sience riting the other there
was a lady a volinteers Wife requested
me to finde out of you what could be
don with a man that would refuse
to take confedred money in payment of
a soldiers dept her Husband is in the
armey and Requested her to pay his
Depts and one cirtain man refused to
take aney confedred money in payment
of a debt her Husband tendred him the
bank bills before he went to the armey
and he refused them now She waunts
to know what could be don with such a
man you as oure chief Magistrate can
tell there is different opinions about the
matter I offerd the Same man about
twelve months ago a three Dollar bill on
the bank of charlott in payment of a
Soldiers dept and he refused it and about
a month ago the Soldier came home on furlow
and he prest him for the Silver and

he had to give nine Dollars in confederd
money for two Dollars in Silver to pay
that miser now if these evils cant be
remedied what will become of the
poor Soldier and his famlie if there
can be aney thing don with Such men
Pleas let me know and I will give the
naimes of all Such men that is at home
here imposing on the Soldiers and there
famlies Pleas answer these my request
