Governer Vance
Dear sir:
I take the opportunity this day
of dropping you a few lines:
There are a great many con-
scrip in Edgecomb co. nc.
that wishes to go home a
few week for the purpose of
planting their little crops of
corn which the most of
the families are nothing but
wimmin and children which
if they had the corn planted
they could tend it and of
which you know the most of
them are poore people and
provided if it was planted
they will make support for
the year comb ing, fer we

do not know how long the
war will last &.C. And if
it last annother year some
of us are bound to perish
if we do not make support
I Am inhopes you will not
take an insult at this And
I hope you will be so
Kind as to inform me
Your opineon on this
subject &C for I know
yew are aman of feelinge
So I hope to hear from
you soon so no more
your friend as cares
