March the 30 1863 I am constraind to
rite you a few lines threw necesity I am a very
pore man old and unable to work I have raisd
three Sons to be men tha are all the help
I had able to doo enny thing hardley I have
baught alittle corn in halifax county with some
of the rest of my neighbours and it has taken all
the money I have and no way of gitting enny more
and our little Children is criing far bread
and we no way of helping our Sel as my three sons
is in the armey and tha say tha cant help me
the county corn has come but tha wont let
me have none of it I now pray you govner of our
State to have our corn Sent to highpoint left
it at Littleton depo eighty milds from raleigh
five weaks ago on the Weldon road pleas help
us if you can far the sake of our Suffering childen
and you will gratly oblige your most umble sir
vants pleas rite to me wheather we can git
enny help or not Direct your letter to
Salam Chappel post office forsyth county
north carolina to Henry Johnson and I
will git it so I imust close by remaning your
most umble survent Henry Johnson
