[Allen was born ca. 1836 and served as a private in Co. H, 24th NC Inf. He was wounded at Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862. He deserted in February 1865 and was paroled at Greensboro on May 12, 1865.]

Transfere to the 50 Regt if you Will Bea so
kinde as to Grant mea one it will aclcomodate
mea very much for I hav toow Brothers in
that Regt and I would Like very much to

the Captain of the CO that I Wish to Go and
that is James C Burch Commandin co A of the 50
N C Regt and his reply is that hea wauld
take meea and Bea Glad to Get mea and I
ask my captain Which is J S. C. Bailey captain

hea naim it to the colonel and hea
