To His Excellency Z B Vance
Governor of the State of North Carolina
Sir
I was marred in the year 1849
in Halifax County N C where
I was borned and raised and
reside in Said County untell the
year 1857 then my Husband moved
to Granville County NC then back
to Halifax County where wee Stade
Twelve months then wee moved to
Franklin County NC where my
Husband Commanced working on
the Raleigh and Gaston Rail
Road then wee moved to Wake
County NC where my Husband
workeed on Said Rail Road
untill Febuary 1862 he then Volenteerd in Captain J H Norwod

E 47 Regement NC troops then
I returned back to Halifax County
where I was marrid without Bread
or meat and have not Recived any
thing from the Commishernors
that was appointid to attend to the
Indigent families I have two Children
and they and myself has ben Supported
by my Father and Brother ever since
my Husband volinteerd yow will please
write to me immeediately and State what
County I am intitled to Draw from the
Commishornor in this Distric No 5
upper Regement NC Malitia will not
Give me one Cent and Say I Shall
have to go back to wake County
to Draw my provissions you will
please do me the favor to let me know
what County I must be Supported from
for if I do not Get some Support
Shortly I must Suffer

yow will please write to Jesse Pittard
John W Johnston and A B Peirce
Commishinors for this Destrict and
they will Do there duty if they Can
no & if I have to get my Support
from Wake County please inform
me how I Shall get it Direct your
letter to Westland NC
in duty bound ever pray
