I take up my pen to scrach a fue lines to give
you some idie how wee are treated in this
section of country I read your proclamation
againste deserters & those whoo harbers deserters
but there will be more instead of less if
things is not alterd for you have sent
men back to take up conscrips deserters
[?] here they are gouing all over the
Country abuseing the wimmon & Scareing
the children & runing to mens houses
& Scareing wimon all moste to death
when there husbands are in the armmy
& robeing them of what little they have
got to eat & they laydies are riteing
to there men & there husband say
if it is not stoped there will bee a
bloody time at home that they doo not
intend to Stay in the armmy & afue
of the trash at liberty to goo
where they pleas to do what they
please & this must be stoped or the
war will stop & I think that it would
be a grate thing if the war would stop

for nearly half people have got
nothing hardly anny thing to eat a grate
number of folks have nothing to eat but corn bread
you are rich & have plenty to eat & you
doo not no the ditress of the folks
or I think you would try to bring it
to a close I my self have a dear husband
in the armmy & he dose not hardly get anuf
to eat to kep him alive just to see our [????]
men in the war dirty & raged & almost star
ved to death & to think that the must be
ourderd in battle in such form god above
will send his vengence down upon such
wicked folks before another twelve months

Those wicked trash that you have sent
back to take deserters they doo not take
any body because there is no deserters fore
theme to take in this county but four & they
have been four weeks hunting them & have
not got any of them but took up too men
& had to send them back & if they are not
caled in they will be killd for our men will
not Stay where they are & those wicked
trash dooing what they please it must be stoped
