I feel it my Duty to
write you A few Lines to
inform you the situation I
am now in I am A Widow
Women onley 3 sones 2
volunteer in th commencet
of this cruel War the yongest
is now 19 and they have
taken him off he belongs
to the 2nd NC Cavaly 19th Reg [1]
My youngest son Was not
able to go in the army for
he has had a Diseas in
his heart from infancy
up to the presant Day he
is not able to Do service in
the army but he Would
Do me A great Deel of good
at home Wher he Would not
have to be exspose so mutch
I have nine in family and now
one large enough to cary one

my farme harvest is nerly here
and I have got no help I have
got in A tolerble large crop
of corn and no one to Worke as
for hireng any person I am not
able to Do that I have all my
provisions to by at thes time as
for the Government provisions
they wont let me have them When
I go to them for it there excuse
is it is for the soldirs Wives
if you can Do any thing for
me Do it immediately for I
am bound to suffer
