[Tyson was wounded at Bristoe Station on October 14, 1863. He was absent wounded until October 30, 1864 when he was reported absent without leave.]

Dear Sir I take the priv
olidge of writing you a few lines
requesting you to grant me the privel
idge of going Home to Save my wheat
crop that is now ready for the Sithe
I received a letter from my wife last
week Stating that the deserters had
come to hir House one night prised
off one corner of the roof of the Smoke
House went in drawn as much hard
Sider as they wanted taken 16 or 18 of
the largest peaces of Bacon they could
pick out went to my corn crib
taken as much corn as they wanted
went in my Barn taken my check lines
and taken a new Iron off of one of
my Plows and c[??]rd them S[?????]

about the Same time they robed one
of my neighbors of the last mouthful
of meat she had hir Husband is in the
Army they are a doing a great eal misch
ief in my Country that is in the loore
edge of Randolph County on Deep River
Gov I belong to the 26th N. C. Reg and hav
bin detailed to Stay hear and wait on
the Commissary and as my wheat crop is
now ready to Save I would like to go Home
and take cear of it my wife States that
my wheat is very good I think they ought
to be 200 bushels She wants me to come Home
and Save it as she cannot get the promise
of a hand to cut it for hir for love nor
money I hate to loose it after it is made
Major W. W. Morrison Says he has not got
the power to give me a furlow Gov it
you will let me go I will hav a hand [?] [1]
my place to work [??] write back by [???]
