Pollk County N C June the 14 the 1863
Dear sir with trimbling hand and a [??]ing heart I
seat my self to rite you a few lines humbly requesting
you to transfer my husband James K Mc Craw to another
regt ment he volenteerd in Henderson County sixty fouth
regt ment Captin Jones but on my account he staid at
home waiting for me to get to bed before he started as I was
expecting to go to the bed of Confinement every day and I
purswaided him to stay afew days longr when thay come
after him an took him as a ConCript tied him and took him
to Jale that same night when he told them that he [??]
avolenteer an that he would go to his Company and that he was
give good securety that he wuld go forthwith quick as he
could get there but they would not alow him to go they
sent him off as a ConCript he started the 2 of October
he is now a Concript in the 50 regt in Care of Captin Ford
whare he hant got no Conection nor a quaintence and where
I cant send him no Clothes I got a letter from him the

other day he rote he had not drawed no money since
bout the midle of march nor did not no when he would
draw eny I hope you will send orders to let him go to
were he volenteerd at if you do I would be glad if he
could come by home to get his Clothes I would of rote sooner
but I keep thinking the war would stop but I have got out
heart so I humbly hope you will grant my petition an
send him to the Company whare his brothers an friends is

he is in the 50 the regt NC troops in Care of Captin Ford

an wants to go to the sixty fourth regt in Care of
Captin Jones NC troops
