Govner Vance
Very dear sir I wish to let you
no that I am a soldier in Company
D 23 Regment N..C trops and I went
in to the service the 27 of August 1862
and remaind thier till december of
the same year and then I was sent
to the hospittel and staid ther tell
the 19 of may 1863 and then was
sent home on a sick furlough
to recruit my helth and am still
at home not abel to do eny thing
at home nor in the Camps if I
was thier and I want you if you

pleas to get me a dis charge if you
Can or if you can give mee one youre
self as I dont believe that I ever shall
be abel for service eny more I am willing
to serve my Contry if I was abel to do so
my deseas has bin pring on me for
four years and the older I get the wors
it gets I also wish to let you no that
I am a man of a familey and my wife
died when I was in Camp and my
children has no one to take cear of them
and tha are not abel to make thier
support and tha have noth ing
a making to live on this year
and I am not abel to make it for
them unless I was abel to do it

you can and if you can not I wish
you to let me no how I Can get a dis
charge and let me no as soon as you
Can if you pleas & if it is nessary
for me to get a petition with signers
to Confrm what I say wich will
bea an easy matter for me to do
