Is thought that it will be don the
Report is that it will be don in a
Short time. I hear that we have had
Another fight in Tennesee and that
Our men whiped the yankees out
We See a hard time hear now we
Have marched about 80 miles in
Three days on this Isleand the yankees
Come up in one mile of us last weak
We was at Bars Bluff on Wadmalaw
Isleand we Could see the me[n] and Guns
on thear vessels very plain Our Battalion
Left thear on yesterday this place is Called
Camp Ivens i dont think we will
Stay hear long we are in a very daingerous
Place yet we have only one place to get out
At that is if we had to Run the yankees
Only has one way to Come to us now
And that Road is well guarded they could
Taken us all last weak if they had new
our position they had three chances to
[page 2]
Surround us we was in Gun Shot distance
They could of shell us to death with theare
Guns we had no Canons at tall I dont
Think that thear will be any fighting to do
on this Isleand now for they have had
Evry Chance to fight us and they was
A fraid to try us. and now the Spring
Time of year is com and they will have
To leav the wether is very warm for the
Time it has Rained a good deal on us
For three or four days. thear is a good deal
of Sickness in Camps at this time
