July the 16 1863 Dear Wife it is
With pleasure that I indever
To drop you afew lines Which leaves
me in tolerable health hoping
those few lines may reach you
all in good health I received your
letters dated the 25 and 5 and I allso
received one from Miss M E epting
of the 20 and I Was glad to hear
from you all again I am glad to hear
that you have agood crop of Wheat
and that your corn crop looks well
and your potatoes two my dear you
said to me that brother wanted
to swap or buy 2 bushel and Ahalf
of my Wheat that I got of J.J fulmer
you can do as you think is rite
but I think you wold better swap
as you chnce to make acrop but do
as you All think is best We are back
in v.a. once more We crost the protomac
on the 14 of July and We are moving

about 13 miles of it now I expect We wil
go thare to day I heard from brother
yester day the doctor thinks he is be
tter but he is very weak yet from
loss of blood he is at Williams port
in mary land Just on the other
side of the protomac lieutenant
monts is dead he died at Williams
port last Friday my dear you said
you had no name for the baby but
mine and I shold send you aname I wish
you wold name it to suit your self
but I will send you aname but if it dont
suit you Just name it to suit your self
drury davis is the name I Will send
you but if it dont suit pick one your

looks the stock and crop and how
