I seat myself to drop you afew lin[?]
those few lines leaves me well and
J.W. is well I received your most
Wellcom letter dated the 23 it came [??]
hand on the 30 and I was truly gla[d?]
To hear from you an to hear that [??]
Was all well an that you had the [??]
[??]mis of hands to help you to pull
I hope the weather was nise and they

you said I shold write soon and tell [??]
how times was heare times is quiet hear
and We are fareing the best We have s[??]
We left Wenter quarters my dear sam[ie?]
koon landed heare on saturday eavning a [?]
he brot me one pare of sox and one pa[??]
of suspenders I was glad to get them
my dear you need not make me no cotton
clothes but Apair of drawers and a[??]
spun shirt you need not hury your [??]
abou making them and make me [???]
coat if you can I have mine yet but it
was two heavy and hot to march
and I cut it off an made me ashort
