greenville tennessee febuary the 24 1864
Dear Wife it is with pleasure that I
take my pen in hand to inform you
that those few lines leaves me well
and brother is well two I received
your most wellcom letter of the 12
Which give me grate Sadesfaction to
hear that you was all well I truly hop
those few lines may reach and finde
you all in good health Dear Wife I am
able to tell you at present what they
don With me for coming home they
take off one months pay besides the
time I was absent so that will make
one month and twenty one days and all
the fatuege duty for 2 months but I dont
care for all that I must Say to you that
We [are?] [leaving?] but I cant tell whare
we will go but I beliav that we will
leave east tennessee and I hope that
our brigade may get to the S. Co coast
but I fear that it wont be so though
I hope We may get thare for I think
we wold have a good time thare

Dear Wife I must say to you that our
brigade has the chance to mount the
m selves and me and brother has give
our names and if you have not Sold
Jack yet be shure to keep hem for
I will Want tobe I hope that I [1]
will get thirty days to equip my self
at home faten tobe if you can for
the brigade may be move [Agin] in A
Short time and tell father law to
have oald ball in fine fix and if he
would rather have tobe at home I
will take ball dear Wife if you have
rite smart money save it for me
till I finde out if we mount or not
I have give you all the newse that I
can think of at present So you will
please excuse my short letter So I
