Camp Near Richmond Va Nov 30th 1864
My Dear and Affectionate Wife
With the greatest
Pleasure I avail Myself of the oppertunity
of respunding to your kind and affectionate
letter of the 18th inst which came duly
to hand last saturday it was a sorse of
much gratifycation to my troubled mind
to peruse the kind and affectionate lines
it contained and to learn that yourself
and little family ware injoying the
Richest Blessing of life which is good
Helth, also to here that Fathers family
ware all well. I trust the Blessing of
good helth and prosperity May continue
with you all, this leaves myself and
Brothers all quite well the comp and Regt
are generly in good helth as for myself I
never injoyed better in my life and could
not wish for better tho we suffer much
with Hunger I cant tell the last time
that I had a satisfaction of Eating it has
becom so common for me to always to be
Hungry that I dont believe I would fell
like I ware doing right to sit down to a

table and Eate till my apetite ware
satisfied, but I hope we may soon be Relie
=ved of this in a measure as we have writen
to Father some time ago to try to send us
a box at the Earliest oppoartunity we Anc
=iously look for it. it will be a sorse of
much relief to us, I dont no by whome
Father may try to send the box but I
understand the South Carolina asociati
=on sosiety is the best way to send them,
Mr D. Cook has bin in a habit of bring
=ing boxis for the 1st Regt S.C.V. but I
understand by G.R. Furtick that when
he brings them he is not satisfied untel
you pay him the worth of the box
or at least he wants 20 or 25 dollars so I
think it would be best to try to send
it through some other soarse G.R.
Furtick ses he dont bring Eney more
boxis for him. My Dear you say you have
never Received Eny reply to the letter
you sent me some sowing thread in if I
Misstake not I mentioned it in the
letter I writen to you on the 24 ult it
has bin Received for which I am much
