Ten Oclock at night of the 15th Dec, 1864
My Dear you may if you wish make my pants that
you spoke of sometime ago but you need not make the
coate yet I dont want you to send me Eny more
clothing untill I write for you to doe so unless it
might be a pair of socks the ones you sent me by
Lt N. P. Jefcoat is worne full of holes alredy we have
to doe so much Marching which is death on socks
My Dear to night the sad news reaches us of the
death of Mr William Pou of comp (D) 20 Regt S.C.V. [1]
he died at Sharlottville Hospitol on the 5th of this
Month Lt B. Livingston has Just Received Notice
from the Surgeon of that Hospitol of his death
how fast Co D is giving our W. G. Pous death on the 5th
[??] Williamson on the 6th of the same month [2]

My Dear I must close for the presant by asking
you to Excuse my verry bad writing it is don
almost in the darke I dont Expect you can
read it. a ccept my best wishes a merry christmas
a happy New year a long life and a pleasant one
I wish to be Remembered by you all at home when
while you are drinking your good liquor and Eating fat
chickings and turkeys think of me perhaps it may
doe me a little good at a distance no doubt you are
giting tired of my nonsence I close as Ever
