I seat my self this morning to drop
you a few lines in answer to yours
that I received some two weeks ago
wich which I have procrastinated
tel this morning I would have wri
tten sooner but in a few days after
I received yours I understood that you
had marching orders and would be
gon before I C could Get one to you
since you have bin on the il island
I did not know to direct one to you
this leaves us all well and the stlle

the settlement as fare as I kn know
I was sorry to hear last evening of
your ketch in in your knee returning
on you again if it continues bad I
suppose you will be sent home soon
we have fine growing wether for the
season we had a fine rain on friday
and yesterday evening our corn crop
looks fine if the seasons continues thr
ough next month we will mak cor
con corn one time more our wheat crop
is lite an and oats nearly a failure
I have reduce my stol stock of horses

and mules I sale my fuller mule
for $105 and my bay horse Jube
for $ 160 low prices for the times
we received a letter from Wm yeargan
a bout two weeks ago he informs us us
that W Henry and Batlett is both
dead Henry died at mobile and
Batlett was kiled in the at shilo [1]
on the six of aprile or died from
his wound he lived ten days after
the battle his wound was in the
mouth and nect nothing more at pre
sant but remains yours affectionately
