Richmond Va April 19th 1863
Mr W I Box Deare firend I avail my self off
thee present oppertunity off to drop you a few lines
to lines let you know how we are giting
along at this time wee are well I am jest
giting over thee mumps I have not heard a
word from W D Simpso[so] about hour
trasfer you had better try and do what
you can your self or else wee we will
have to stay heare I would like very
well that you could git us off to carolina
see Wilm and git him to rite to Major
[?et] and you see him as you comes threw
Columbia your self and see what hee
will do and you can bring what hee dose
you self I have nothing strange to write to you
W, W, Compton has got heare at Work u inn
thee shop and is staying inn thee same room
with us so I will close my letter by saying
