Dear Stept Mother I have taken the opportunity to drop
you A few Lines in answer of A few Lines that I Recd
from you yesterday I will Say to you that I was truly
Glad to get A Leter from you, I asure you that your few Lines
was Received very kindly & thankfuly & also was read
with pleasure; you wrote in your Litle note to Me asking Me if I
wanted any More Cloths I thank you very kindly for your
presentment but I will Say to you not that I do not want them
nor that I do not neede them but that I have now by half More
than I Can Carry I would Like very Much to have them if it
was not that I have to Much to Carry now So I will Say
to you that I do not think it worth whil for you to Send them
to Me for if I was taken out on A March with what I hav got
I would have half of them to throw Away
In your not to Me you wrot that your Brother Wm. T. –
Holland had paid you Some Money & also you thought that
he would pay you up I was truly glad to hear of it for Such
A Debt as that was two Much to Loose, also I Suppose that
Money is Very Scarce & heard to get in that Country & if this
War Continues two or three years Longer al persons will
need Money especialy poor people & it is My notion that this
War is nearer to the first end than it is to the Last end
& if it is they will be A great Many of our Citisen perish
as well as our Souldiers who are Dying So fast from
Various Diseases, & A great Many perishes to Death not
be Cause we havent it, but for the want of attention
their is thousands of our good Soldiers Dyes for the want
of the proper attention, their is now ten thousand of
of our good fellows in the City of Richmond Down
Sick & they Dye by hundreds evry week & A Many one
Dyes for the want of attention I Must Close pleas
