Camp Jackson
Dear Father I gain take the pleasure to write
you A few Lines in answer to yours of the 13th
inst. whitch I Received yesterday by Andy
Armstrong & Mr.. Brice I was truly glad to
hear from you I have Received three Leters from
you Since the batle I tell you it is great Satisfaction
to Me to hear from you as often as I have Since
the batle I hope that you will keep on writing
to Me I will try & write wonce A week to you
in your Leter of the 13 you wrote that you had recd.
one Leter from Me Since the batle one whitch
I wrote the Sixth inst. I am glad that you have
heard from Me also you wrote that you recd.
A Leter from Me that I Sent by Wm.. Lowery
and that you got ten Dollars out of it that I
Sent to you I wish that I had Some More
to Send to you but we have not Drawed Since
we bin in this Sate but we will draw Some
time Shortely but I Cant tell how Long
befor we Draw it May be A Month

Father you wrote that Mr.. Graham wanted to no
if I had Saw his Gransoons tell him that
I have Seen one whos Nam is Bales Graham
I have Sen him Since the fight he was well
the other one William I do not no where he
is but I think that he is in the 5th .. Regt
Father I will Say to you that I am not well
but beter this Morning than I have bin
though I am very week it is all that I Can
do to walk I have the Direr Reer & the Dierreer
hear & the wether is So hot that A fellow
gets weeken down in one Day till he hardly
Can walk I hope that thes few Lines will
Reach you & find you all well

Father it is afel to Se our Regt this Morning
Started on picet & I do not think that their was
More than one hundred & fifty Men that is
for Duty Jesse & C..T. Dalton is both Sick
& James fountin is Sick Charley Dalton
is geting very Low but I think that he
is geting beter Slowly

I will Say to you that I Sent two Leters
to you by Mr. Philips I hope that you will inquire
& get them both & write to Me as Soon as you
get this Leter & write Me all the news
Father their is no ware news hear to write
times is tolible Still & fe[?] & I hope they will
Remain So till peace is Made & I hope to the Almighty
that it wont be A great while till peace is Made
but I dont no for we dont get any news hear
at tall the Richmond papers dont publish
any news
Father I will Say to you that our
ordly Alendre Armstrong is dead he died the
16th inst. he Died from the Illness of his wond
& also Wm.. T.. Goly I dont bleive that I wrot
it in My other Leter he also died from the
Illness of his wond we have two or three others
that will Die if they do not get beter
but I hope & trust to our God that I will
Live to See you Again & Live to See the
war ended what A time they would be if peace
was to be Made & all the Souldiers go home

you wrote that you expected to bild A firness
to Dry fruit I think that is A good idie for
you will need evry thing in the way of fruites
and More than that I expect to Come home
Sometime this fall & I want Some fruite
& Some Corne bread & buter Milk & Some
honey if I Could get one Meal of what I have
Mention I would give five Dollars jest for
one Meal of what I Could eat givet jest
as freely & you as you would give five Cents
for A Meal of Vituals buter hear is worth 1.50
per pound & Milk 1.50 is worth gallon
& evry thing is high in perpotion to that of
buter & Milk
I Must Clos as I have no news to write
pleas Loock over My bad Compos Leter
Give My Respects to all who thinks Me
worthy & also Receive the Same to your Self
