My Dar Companion I seat
my self to Drop you afew lins to
inform you that I am in tolerable
helth at present hoping that when those few
lins come to hand that tha may find you and
family enjoying the Best of helth I am with have
nothing of much intrest to rite to you at present I
wount to see you & the children verry Bad I have Ben
with my Compeny 12 days Ihave the head ache verry
Bad some times and I am Sweld rite Smart in my
Stomach and Bowels though I am giting along verry
well at present I was in the hospital seven weeks
& I am Doing Better hear than I Dun at the hospital
I have Not Dun Any Duty since I Come from the hospital
the rest left hear 3 days ago to go to the Battle Near
fedricks Burg and I was left in Camps I have Not heard
whether my regt has Ben engaged in it or Not
though the fight has Ben going on all the time I have
Ben in hearing of the Cannon all the time and some
times I Could hear the Small arms I got my Clothing
that you sent to me Dr Burton had kept them all the
time for me J P Crowder was well when he
left hear with the regt I sent you By Daniel Coggin
fifty Dollars and I wount you to rite to me haw you
ar making out for something to eat and if you and the
children all keeps well or Not and what you have to
pay for provisions I Send howda to you all and
and I wount you to hug and kis all the children

for me and tell them that tha must Obey our
mother Rosettar I waunt you to Bee agood
and Smart girl and help your ma
all you Can and if I ever Come home I
will Pay you for all that you Do for yo your ma
and if I ever Come home I wount you to Be as
Smart as Any of the girls I wount you to
Be good to the children and lern them
to Bee good and Smart tel Newton and
georga Ann and the Baby all that I love them
two But I am So far off that I Cannot se
them I wount to see you all verry Bad and
I hope that the time will soon come that
we all will git to go home to stay with
our familys I have plenty to Eat at this
time we have beef and flour and Sometimes
Bacon thing is verry hy hear I Bought Nearley
all that I Eat when I was at the
hospital after I left Stanton So I must
Close for this time C.P.C. Mcknight
was well when the regt left hear exscept
his head he Could Not hear Any hardly
so Nothing more at present onley remain
