Camps Near Fedricks Burge Va January
Dear Companion I seat my self to
right to you to inform you of my
helth I Can say to you that I am
in good helth at this time and I
hope that those few lins may Come
to hand in Due time and find
you and the children well and Doing
well I have Nothing of intrest
to right to you at the present time
I wount to See you and the children verry
Bad and I hope that the time will
Soon Come when peace will Bee
Maid and wee all will git to
go home to Stay with our
family though I Dont see No
prospect of the war Closing for
we ar making preperrations every Day
to fight [now?] I think that ther
will Bee afight Close By hear
Beefore long we have fortifide heare
till we Can whip all the
yankes we Can Come up we
Can go in our fortifications and
the yankes [???] [1]

for afight on the other side of the
River we ar transferd from Jacksons
Core to long streets Core and we
are in an Alabama Brigaid Now
ther is 5 Ala Regt in our Brigaid
Now tha ar the 4th 15th 44th 47th
48th Ala Regts we have had afine
Snow hear it Commenst snowing
the 27th inst and it snowed 24 hours
and the snow is kn Nee Deepe
in some plaises we moved heare the
24th of this inst and I was glad that
we got into an Ala Brigaid the helth
of our Regt and Company is tolerble
good at this time the Boys all Seames
to enjoy them selvs verry well tha
ar all playing in the snow to Day
I have Not reved No letters from you
Sence thomas right Come to the
regt Mr Peters lost the letter that
you sent to me By him and I
have rote several letters to you
and I Caint git Nun from you
I sent you ten Dollars in one
letter and I waunt you to rite to

me if you got it and I sent you
fifty Cents worth of Postedge Stamps
in another I have Not got But one
letter from you in 2 monthes and
that was the letter that thomas
right Brought to me he Brought
me the Drawers that you sent
to me By him I wount you to
rite to me the reason that you Dont
right to me for I would Bee
verry glad to hear from you and
the children if you have Not got
No paper rite to me and I will
git Some and send to you I
wount you to rite to me how
your mother and Berthia is and how
tha ar Doing I wount you
tell Mother to that I wount
her and Mr Baity to right to
me and I wount you to tell
all the children that I wount
I wount to see them and I
wount to hear Be with them
But I Caint tell tell when
I will git to see them tell

Dr John Mcknight that Columbus
and J F Bentley is Both well
at the present time tell Mrs
Grainder that James is well
and Doing well give my Best
respect to all of my inquiering
