Dear Sister I seat my self
this evening to rite you a fiew
lines to inform you that I
am well at this time hoping these
may come safe to hand & find
you enjoying the same I can
say to you that we have
fell Back from Missionary ridge
& is at Tunnel Hill Georgea we
hade som verry hard fighting Be
fore we left the ridge But
our regt was not in the hard
part of the fight we was
lying off Be hind som Brest
works not near a nuff to do
any shooting that night after
the fight we taken up the
line of march & fell Back

to ring gall Ga & stade thare [1]
till the yanks com up & then
gave them a Decent floggens
we only lost two men killed &
8 wonded out of the regt Sis
the night Be fore the fight we waded
a creek that was a bout 40 yards
wide the Coldest water you ever
felt in your life they was a Big white
frost on the ground Sis you had
Better recon it was cold the creek
was a bout half thighs Deep &
it was a bout 3 oclock in the
night when we cross Well Sis I want
to See you verry Bad But I dont
no when I will get a chance to
com hom I cant do like Wess &
pervis did Desert I dont want
to see you nor none of the rest
of my People Bad a nuff for that
I think that things will work
