pleasure that i seat my self to drop you
a few lines to let you now that i am
still a mending i hav got amost well
i think i hope these few lines will find
you & James bouth well my loving wife
i havant any newse to write that wood
inter wrest you mutch tha ant now fighten

sed that the yanks was avackuaten
Knashville surposed tha was a going to
Mississippi an our men are a leaveing
her as fast as tha can tha air Twenty thousan
orderd a way from her to go to Miss i dont
now wether wee will go or not i exspect
wee will hafto stay up her some where
i dont ceare wether i go or not i am easey
any wher that is as well at one plase as a
nother unless i was at home if i was
thar i wood stay as long as i could i am
as tirerd of the as aney body you ever

now wether Tim Madose gave mee a par of
socks or not he sed none was waring out i
