Dear wife it tis with pleasure that i seat

an hopen these few lines will find you injoyen
the same like blessing faney i am in beter
helth than i hav bin in a long time my dear
wife i hav seen a heap sence i wrote to you
be fore i hav bin in one of the bigest batles
that has bin Fought it last a bout fourteen days
wee was in it seven days an then had to retreat
forty or fifty milds wee warnt a fighten all the time
but wee was under the bum shells whitch was very
dangers the wrest went up on sunday i went a monday
wee stade till saturday knight our brigade had to
guards woods batery it was one of the best Baterys i
ever saw wee dident get in now reguler batle till
friday knight Eavening my Cumpney went onn picket
in sight of the Enemy wee had to Charge on thim
threw a open feel tha shot at us all the way tha
was hid behind a fennse wee went in two hundred
yds of thim wee got behind a house an shot at thim
