Most Dear and affeckenat Companion
I am permitted onse more to right
to you I am gittin[???] well [1]
this time I have m[???] [2]
the last few Days though I have Ben
verry low Since I have Ben hear after
I got over the Newmona I was taken
Down again and the Doctor said that I
had the small pox though it Did
Not Break out on me But verry little
though I Came verry Near Dying
when I had that [??] last letter rote
to you I thought that I was going
[letter torn] [???] and though I am
able to go Any where Now at this
time I think that I Shal Start
to my Regt this evning it is
Costing me lots to stay hear
and it will Cost me 30 Dollars
to go to my Regt it to has taken
all use my waiges Since I have
Ben Sick to pay my [???] [3]
I fell [?????????] [4]
Not sent you Any money an
So long time But it has taken
all my wagies to pay for my way
and I will send you some
money as soon as I Can my
Spell of Sickness has Cost me
one hundred and Sixty Dollars

fedricks Burg Va and the yanke Cavlry
has Ben Near Richmond ther was
Some of them taken prisoners in
3 mils of Richmond and tha have
[torn?] up the rail road in Several
plaices of Ra[????] [???] [8]
was great excitement in the city
and ther was agreat many of the
Citizens that volurnteard ther
Servisses for to protect the city
against the men I hear that
ther is agreat many tories in the
Northern part of Ala and I am
Sorry to hear that my Regt ment

[??] tha was Not in the fight at
fedricks Burg it about 150 mils to
the Regt I wount you to right to me
as Soon as you git this and right how
you ar giting along I heard that Dr
Mc knight was marred and r[???]
