My dear Wife
Having written to you twice
and as yet have not received an answer. Makes
me feel quite uneasy your remaining quiet
so long. If it is possible for you or Daniel
Coggin or C F Coggin to come to see me do so as
I need some one here The Doctor tolde me that
he would send me home if any of my peple
were her to take me so that I could be
attended to on the way. I am not doing
as well as I was a week ago. My love to
the children

- The letter is all in one hand, that of Lt. Frank L. Boothby of Co. H, 15th Alabama Infantry. The 15th Alabama was in the same brigade as the 47th Alabama.
- E. B. Coggin had been wounded at the Battle of Chicamauga in September and died five days after this letter was written.
